Where to use ROOFPLAST SA 80: alkali free shotcrete accelerator for tunnels and mines

ROOFPLAST SA 80 is an alkali free shotcrete accelerator in liquid form, and it is chloride-free as well. It is dosed into the mix at the spray nozzle, where it makes sprayed concrete set within minutes and build very high early strength. As a set accelerator for sprayed concrete it lets thick layers go on in passes.

    • Tunnel & Mine Shotcrete Linings

Dosed at the nozzle so lining layers set within minutes.

    • Rock Support (TBM / Drill & Blast)

Fast set and high early strength for rock support shotcrete.

    • Underwater Foundations

Used at 4–6% by weight of cement for underwater concreting.

    • Cold-Weather Concreting

Develops early strength in cold conditions, with a freeze point of -16°C.

    • Emergency Concrete Repairs

Quick setting concrete when a repair cannot wait.

    • Pre-cast Concrete Acceleration

Speeds up setting and early strength in pre-cast work.

On shotcrete accelerator dosage, use 1–3% by weight of cement at the nozzle, or 2–4% for 10 cm layers. At spray dose the initial set is under 2 minutes and the final set under 6 minutes. It complies with IS 9103-99, with chloride below 0.1% and alkali below 1%. As an underwater concrete accelerator the dose rises to 4–6%. It is toxic and acidic at pH 2.5, so wear rubber gloves and safety glasses. Design the mix with a W/C ratio below 0.45.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies ROOFPLAST SA 80 to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

    Why ROOFPLAST SA 80 works

    • Low chloride and alkali

Chloride is below 0.1% and alkali below 1%, which makes it safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete when properly dosed.

    • Set within minutes

Initial set in under 2 minutes at spray dose lets each shotcrete layer hold before the next pass goes on.

    • Low freeze point

A freeze point of -16°C and faster hydration help concrete develop early strength in cold ambient conditions.

    Set Accelerator · IS 9103-99 · Alkali-Free

Initial Set in Under 2 Minutes. Alkali-Free. Nozzle-Dosed.

A chloride-free, alkali-free set accelerator for shotcrete, tunnel linings, underwater foundations and emergency concrete — with a freeze point at -16°C.

Safety Critical — TOXIC · pH 2.5 (acidic)

ROOFPLAST SA 80 is toxic. Do not ingest. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses at all times. If ingested, give an emetic of common salt in water and seek immediate medical attention. Wash skin/eye contact immediately with plenty of water.

    Spray Concrete Dosage

1–3% by weight of cement. For 10cm layers, 2–4% is typically suitable. Design W/C ratio below 0.45.

    Underwater Concreting

4–6% by weight of cement for underwater foundations and emergency below-water placements.

    Shotcrete Performance

    < 2 Min Initial Set

Initial set in under 2 minutes and final set under 6 minutes at spray dosages — enabling thick shotcrete layers and emergency concrete without waiting on conventional set times.

    Alkali-Free, Chloride-Free

< 1% alkali and < 0.1% chloride — meeting the most stringent tunnel lining specifications while remaining safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete.

    IS 9103-99 · Plasticising

IS 9103-99 compliance plus built-in plasticising action that improves workability and early strength simultaneously — not just acceleration.

    -16°C Freeze Point

Freeze point of -16°C enables cold-weather concreting, underground environments and sub-zero applications where conventional accelerators may freeze.

    Sprayed Concrete Set Accelerator

Shotcrete That Sets Before It Sags.

Nozzle-dosed set accelerator for tunnel linings, shotcrete, underwater foundations and emergency concrete repairs.

    < 2 Min Initial Set

Initial set under 2 minutes and final set under 6 minutes at spray dosages — the fastest concrete setting product in the Armstrong range.

    Alkali-Free (< 1%)

Alkali content below 1% meets tunnel lining and mining specifications that prohibit alkali-containing shotcrete accelerators.

    IS 9103-99 Compliant

Meets IS 9103-99 for concrete admixtures; chloride content < 0.1% (BS 5075) — safe for prestressed and reinforced concrete.

    -16°C Freeze Point

Enables cold-weather concreting and sub-zero underground applications; density 1.425 g/cm³ for consistent nozzle dosing.

    How to Use

    1

Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses — ROOFPLAST SA 80 is TOXIC and acidic (pH 2.5)

    2

Design concrete/shotcrete mix with W/C ratio below 0.45

    3

For shotcrete: dose at 1–3% by weight of cement at the spray nozzle (2–4% for 10cm layers)

    4

For underwater concreting: dose at 4–6% by weight of cement

    5

Apply in controlled layers; first layer must achieve initial set before next pass

    6

Water-cure with mist spray after application

    7

In case of skin/eye contact wash immediately with plenty of water. If ingested, give emetic of common salt in water and seek immediate medical attention
