What is WONDERSEAL XL?

A high-performance, highly flexible, water-resistant acrylic latex caulking and fast-setting sealant for window frames, door surrounds, fitted furniture, cornices, skirtings and staircases. White, non-flammable, overpaintable and paperable — it adheres to concrete, brickwork, plaster, wood and glazed tiles without a primer.

How is WONDERSEAL XL applied?

Cut the conical tip of the cartridge and screw on the nozzle, then cut the nozzle at 45° to the required bead size. Fit the cartridge into a caulking gun and extrude directly into the joint, ensuring full contact with both joint faces. Protect from rain for at least 5 hours after exterior application.

What is the coverage of WONDERSEAL XL?

1 kg covers approximately 6–7 running metre feet when the groove is cut to a depth of 5–6mm.

Can WONDERSEAL XL be painted over?

Yes. WONDERSEAL XL can be overpainted or wallpapered after skinning (15–45 minutes, depending on thickness, temperature and humidity) — making it suitable for interior finishing where a seamless, invisible seal is required.

What are the limitations of WONDERSEAL XL?

WONDERSEAL XL is not recommended for continuous water immersion, wet surfaces, poorly ventilated spaces, prolonged high humidity conditions, or joints with more than 7.5% maximum movement. For joints requiring higher movement accommodation or continuous water exposure, refer to ROOFEXSEAL PU 212.

What does Shore A / Shore D hardness mean?

Shore hardness measures how resistant a cured rubber, sealant or elastomer is to indentation. Shore A is used for soft, flexible materials — a typical joint sealant is Shore A 25–40 (soft and stretchy), a car tyre is around Shore A 70, and a hard rubber wheel is around Shore A 90. Shore D is used for harder materials like rigid polyurethanes and epoxies, where 60–80 is common. Higher numbers mean a harder, tougher, more abrasion-resistant surface; lower numbers mean a softer, more flexible material that accommodates movement.

What does the stated service temperature range mean?

The service temperature range is the band within which the cured product remains stable, flexible and fully functional in operation (not the application temperature). A range of -20°C to +80°C means the coating will not turn brittle in winter cold storage nor soften and lose adhesion on a summer terrace slab, which can reach 65–70°C surface temperature under direct sun. For Indian conditions, any product rated up to at least +70°C is safe for exposed roof and façade use; products rated to +100°C or higher are required for hot-process areas, chimneys and industrial substrates.

Where to use WONDERSEAL XL: acrylic sealant for window frames and interior joints

WONDERSEAL XL is an acrylic sealant for window frames, door frames, cornices, skirtings and staircases, a flexible, water-resistant acrylic latex caulking in white. It is gunned from a cartridge directly into the joint and tooled to finish. This paintable acrylic sealant can be overpainted or papered once it has skinned, and no primer is normally required.

For the gap between window frame and wall, WONDERSEAL XL skins in 15–45 minutes and cures fully in 3–5 days, depending on thickness, temperature and humidity. It has 85% solids content, Shore A hardness of 30 and is UV resistant. Apply between 5°C and 40°C. As a door frame gap filler it also bonds to glazed tiles. It is not recommended for continuous water immersion or wet surfaces. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle to the bead size you need.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from all contamination — no primer is normally required

Cut the conical tip of the cartridge end

Screw on the nozzle and cut it at a 45° angle to the required bead size

Fit the cartridge into a caulking or sealant gun

Extrude WONDERSEAL XL directly into the joint, ensuring complete contact with both joint faces

Tool the sealant to finish within the joint and remove any excess immediately

For exterior applications: protect from rain exposure for at least 5 hours after application
