TILEX 512 is a high-performance two-component polyurethane hybrid adhesive for installing large format tiles and stones on specialist substrates including drywalls, gypsum boards, cement backer boards, marine plywood, MDF, MIVAN concrete and calcium silicate boards — as well as standard concrete and masonry. Exceeds ANSI A118.4, EN 12004 D2TES2 and IS 15477 Type 4TS2 requirements by wide margins: ≥5.0 N/mm² initial shear strength (vs 2.0 N/mm² required) and ≥30mm deformability (vs 5mm required). Two components, 1:3 mixing ratio, 30-minute open time. Suitable for interior and exterior floors and walls.
Figures are controlled laboratory results. Actual site performance varies with substrate, temperature, humidity, application method and workmanship — please confirm the current product datasheet before specification.
TILEX 512 is a tile adhesive for drywall and other specialist boards, made as a two-component polyurethane hybrid. Part A liquid and Part B powder are mixed 1:3 by weight and applied with a notched trowel. This PU hybrid tile adhesive fixes large format tiles and stones on floors and walls, inside and outside.
Made for large tiles and stones, with deformability of at least 30 mm.
Check the board can carry the tile weight before fixing.
Bonds tiles to marine plywood on floors and walls.
Keep adhesive out of the joints between adjacent boards.
Suitable for MDF and HDF boards that are stable against warping.
Bonds tiles to MIVAN concrete as well as standard concrete.
Applied at a 3 mm bed with a 6 mm × 6 mm notched trowel.
Foot traffic is acceptable 24 hours after fixing.
Dampen masonry walls and sweep off excess water before applying.
Listed for tile-on-tile fixing on floors and walls.
Listed for glass tiles, set within the 30 minute open time.
On the question of how to fix tiles on gypsum board, initial shear adhesion is at least 5.0 N/mm² against a requirement of 2.0 N/mm², and deformability is at least 30 mm against 5 mm. Standards listed are ANSI A118.4, EN 12004 D2TES2, IS 15477 Type 4TS2 and ISO 13007. As a cement board tile adhesive it covers about 25 sq.ft per 10 kg system at a 3 mm bed. Pot life is 30 minutes, so mix only what you can use in that window.
Armstrong Chemicals supplies TILEX 512 to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.
A two-component polyurethane hybrid adhesive that exceeds five international standards — delivering ≥5.0 N/mm² shear strength (2.5× the requirement), ≥30mm deformability (6× the requirement), and -40°C to +100°C temperature resistance across drywalls, gypsum, marine plywood, MIVAN concrete and standard masonry.
Get a QuoteStandard cement-based adhesives lack the flexibility and bond strength for large format tiles on drywalls, gypsum or plywood — where substrate movement, vibration and thermal cycling cause debonding or cracking.
A polyurethane hybrid that absorbs vibration and thermal movement with ≥30mm deformability — 6× the standard requirement — bonding large format tiles to 12 substrate types from MIVAN concrete to marine plywood.
Tensile adhesion wet: >7.0 N/mm² vs ≥1.5 N/mm² required. Initial shear strength: ≥5.0 N/mm² vs ≥2.0 N/mm² required. Deformability: ≥30mm vs >5mm required. Not just compliant — genuinely over-engineered.
≥30mm deformability across -40°C to +100°C means TILEX 512 moves with the building. Sustains heavy vibrations and thermal shock without losing bond — classified as a highly flexible adhesive.
Achieved vs required values at every test point. TILEX 512 exceeds its standards by 2–6× margins.
| Property | Standard | Achieved |
|---|---|---|
| Slip Resistance | ≤ 0.5mm | < 0.3–0.5mm |
| Tensile Adhesion (60 mins) | > 1.0 N/mm² | > 1.5 N/mm² |
| Shear Adhesion — Thermal Shock | ≥ 2.0 N/mm² | ≥ 5.0 N/mm² |
| Shear Adhesion — Water Immersion | > 2.0 N/mm² | > 5.0 N/mm² |
| Initial Shear Adhesion | ≥ 2.0 N/mm² | ≥ 5.0 N/mm² |
Two-component polyurethane performance that exceeds every test, on every substrate.
ANSI A118.4, ANSI A1178.15, EN 12004 D2TES2, IS 15477 Type 4TS2, ISO 13007 — not just compliant at every test point, but achieving 2–6× the required values.
Highly flexible classification — 6× the >5mm deformability requirement. Sustains heavy vibrations and thermal shock without losing bond on any substrate.
Maintains bond strength across the widest temperature range of any tile adhesive in the range — from cold-store flooring to sun-exposed exterior tiles.
Bonds to drywalls, gypsum, cement backer boards, marine plywood, MDF, MIVAN concrete, calcium silicate boards, brick/concrete masonry and existing tiles — one adhesive across construction and fit-out.
Surface must be structurally sound, clean and free from dirt, oil, grease, laitance, concrete sealers or curing compounds
Check surface is true to plumb — smooth rough or uneven surfaces using Tilex 512 Screed/Plaster material
Dampen concrete slabs or masonry and sweep off excess water — slab must be fully cured and at least 28 days old
Provide and fill expansion joints with suitable sealants before tiling
Verify load-bearing capacity and internal board strength with the board manufacturer before installing tiles on drywalls — ensure the board can support the tile weight and is stable against movement, warping or bending
Joint spaces between adjacent dry wall boards must be maintained up to the top tile surface — do not allow adhesive mortar to enter the board joints
Fill joints between tiles on drywalls with ROOFEXSEAL PU Sealant; fill all corners and changes in plane with a polyurethane sealant
Measure Part A and Part B at exactly 1:3 ratio by weight into a clean, dry container
Mix thoroughly by hand or low-speed mixer until a completely uniform consistency is achieved
Pot life is 30 minutes — mix only what can be used within this window. Do not over-batch
Apply mixed adhesive to the substrate using a 6mm×6mm notched trowel for 3mm bed thickness
Set tiles/stones firmly into place within the 30-minute open time using spacers for consistent joint gaps
Foot traffic acceptable at 24 hours; grouting can proceed at 24 hours
Available in 10 Kgs & 20 Kgs packs (Part A + Part B combined system). Shelf life of 1 year from date of manufacture.
Pot life is 30 minutes — mix only what can be used in that window. For drywall substrates, verify load-bearing capacity with the board manufacturer before tiling. Slabs must be cured and 28 days old. Do not allow adhesive to enter board joint spaces.
All tile joints on drywalls, corners and changes in plane must be filled with ROOFEXSEAL PU Sealant — not with the tile adhesive mortar.
