Where to use TILEX 351 PLUS: C2TE tile adhesive for vitrified and large tiles

TILEX 351 PLUS is a C2TE tile adhesive, a polymer modified cementitious thin-set for floors and walls. It is a single component powder that you mix with clean water to a creamy paste and comb on with a notched trowel. It is made for vitrified tiles, tile-on-tile work and as a large format tile adhesive.

    • Large Format Vitrified & Ceramic Tiles

Back-butter large tiles so the whole bed is in contact.

    • External Wall Cladding (with URPAdmix 73)

Gauge the powder with URPAdmix 73 instead of water for added elasticity.

    • Tile-on-Tile Renovations

Engineered for fixing new tiles in tile-on-tile applications.

    • Heavy Traffic Floors

Floors can take heavy traffic 16–24 hours after fixing.

    • Swimming Pool Surrounds

Allow 14 days before exposure to permanent water.

    • Bathrooms, Kitchens & Wet Areas

Tensile adhesion stays at 1.0 N/mm² or more after water immersion.

    • Commercial Floors & Walls

Vertical slip of 0.5 mm or less helps wall tiles stay put.

The adhesive is classified C2 TE to EN 12004 and complies with ANSI A118.4 and IS 15477:2019. Vertical slip is 0.5 mm or less, which addresses tiles falling from wall surfaces, so it serves as an anti slip wall tile adhesive. Tensile adhesion is at least 1.0 N/mm², open time at least 30 minutes and pot life about 2 hours. Coverage is roughly 3–5 kg per sq.m from the 20 kg bag. Let the mix slake for 5 minutes, then re-mix briefly.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies TILEX 351 PLUS to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

High-Performance Tile Adhesive for Large Format & External Walls

A single-component polymer-modified thin-set adhesive engineered for vitrified tiles, large formats, and tile-on-tile work — with ≤ 0.5 mm anti-slip on walls and ≥ 1.0 N/mm² tensile adhesion across all four EN test conditions. Boost with URPAdmix 73 for external wall installations.

    Why It Works

Why Sand–Cement Mortar Fails Modern Tiles

Vitrified and large-format tiles have near-zero porosity — traditional sand–cement beds cannot key into the tile back and slump on vertical surfaces, leading to hollow spots, debonding and tile pop-outs.

    The TILEX 351 PLUS Advantage

A polymer-modified thin-set with ≥ 30 minute open time and ≤ 0.5 mm vertical slip — full back contact, no slumping, and ≥ 1.0 N/mm² adhesion even after water immersion, heat ageing and freeze-thaw cycles.

    Tile-on-Tile Ready

Bonds new tiles directly over existing tiled surfaces — no chipping or removal required. Polymer modification grips low-porosity surfaces that defeat conventional cement mortars, cutting renovation downtime dramatically.

External Wall Ready — with URPAdmix 73

Gauge TILEX 351 PLUS with URPAdmix 73 in place of water for external wall cladding — adds elasticity and tensile strength to handle thermal movement, wind load and weather cycling on facade installations.

    Triple-Certified Performance

    Tested to Three International Standards

    ANSI A118.4
American National Standards Institute — Latex Portland Cement Mortar specification for tile installation.
    EN 12004 C2 TE
European standard — Improved cementitious adhesive (C2) with extended open time (E) and reduced slip (T).
    IS 15477:2019
Bureau of Indian Standards — adhesives for use with ceramic, mosaic and stone tiles, ensuring local site relevance.
    Application Steps

Mix, Comb, Press — Tiles That Stay

    1

Ensure substrate is sound, clean, dimensionally stable, and free from dust, oil, curing compounds and loose particles

    2

Pre-wet highly absorbent substrates — do not leave standing water

    3

Pour clean water into a clean container, then add TILEX 351 PLUS powder slowly while mixing

    4

Mix mechanically with a slow-speed drill until a smooth, lump-free, creamy paste is achieved

    5

Allow the mix to slake for 5 minutes, then re-mix briefly before use

    6

Apply to the substrate with the flat side of a notched trowel, then comb with the notched edge

    7

For large-format tiles, back-butter the tile to ensure full bed contact

    8

Press the tile firmly into the adhesive with a slight twisting motion within the open time

    9

For external wall applications, gauge the powder with URPAdmix 73 instead of water for enhanced flexibility

    Polymer-Modified Performance

Why TILEX 351 PLUS Outperforms Cement Mortar

One adhesive — for vitrified tiles, large formats, tile-on-tile, and external walls.

C2 TE — Tested to All Four EN Conditions

≥ 1.0 N/mm² tensile adhesion initial, after water immersion, after heat ageing and after freeze-thaw cycles. The same number across every condition — proven durability, not just lab strength.

    ≤ 0.5 mm Anti-Slip on Walls

Tiles stay put on vertical surfaces — no slumping, no resetting. Combined with ≥ 30 minute open time and 20 minute adjustment window for relaxed, accurate installation.

External Wall Booster — URPAdmix 73

Replace gauging water with URPAdmix 73 for facade and external wall cladding. Adds the elasticity and tensile reinforcement needed to ride thermal movement and weather cycling.

Single Component — Just Add Water

One bag, one mix — no separate liquid polymer to dose, no waste. Mix mechanically, slake 5 minutes, re-mix, apply. 2-hour pot life for steady site rhythm.

    Packing & Storage

Available in 20 kg bags. Shelf life of 12 months in original sealed bag, stored in a cool, dry place clear of the ground.

    Surface Requirements

Substrate must be sound, level, dimensionally stable, and free from dust, oil, grease, curing compounds and loose particles. Pre-wet highly absorbent substrates but do not leave standing water. New concrete must be cured for at least 28 days before tiling.

    Enhance with URPAdmix 73

For external wall installations and applications demanding additional flexibility and tensile strength, gauge TILEX 351 PLUS with URPAdmix 73 polymer in place of water. This upgrades the bond line to handle thermal cycling, wind load, and weather exposure on facade and external cladding work.
