ALSTRONG RC is a high-performance, self-priming rust converter and rust encapsulating coating for the protection of steel and iron against aggressive corrosion, industrial pollution, coastal environments, chemical attacks and weathering. When applied to a rusty steel surface, it chemically stabilises and converts adhering rust into an organo-complex compound within 30 minutes — forming a tough, porous, moisture-repelling coating with good mechanical stability, abrasion resistance, bond strength and excellent anti-corrosive properties. Salt spray resistance of 340 hours at 25 microns (ASTM B 117). Can be immediately overcoated with concrete, mortar, rubber, acrylic, PU, epoxy or water dispersion coatings.

Where to use ALSTRONG RC: rust converter for steel and rebar

ALSTRONG RC is a rust converter and rust encapsulating coating for steel and iron. Brushed, rolled or sprayed onto rusty steel, it chemically stabilises the adhering rust and converts it within 30 minutes into a tough, moisture-repelling coating. It is self-priming, so it works as a salt spray resistant primer under later topcoats.

    • Steel Bridges

Converts adhering rust on bridge steel once loose rust is wire brushed.

    • Oil Refinery Steel

Protects refinery steel against industrial pollution and chemical attack.

    • Pipes & Steel Structures

Apply by brush, roller or sprayer over rusty pipes and steelwork.

    • Steel Reinforcement Bars

Treats rusted bars so mortar or concrete can follow immediately.

    • Chemical & Petrochemical Industries

Guards plant steel against chemical attack and aggressive corrosion.

    • Marine Equipment

Wash off salt contamination with high-pressure water, then coat.

    • Coastal & Industrial Environments

Anti-corrosive protection for steel and iron in coastal and polluted air.

    • Before Concrete/Mortar Repair

Concrete, mortar or plaster can be applied straight after coating.

For rusted steel that needs quick treatment, ALSTRONG RC completes its reaction in about 30 minutes at room temperature and is touch dry in 30 min at 30°C. Salt spray resistance is 340 hours at 25 microns to ASTM B 117, which suits bridge steel rust treatment and coastal work. Packs run from 250 ml to 210 litres, with a shelf life of 2 years. Apply between 15°C and 25°C, and give a second coat for complete conversion.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies ALSTRONG RC to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

    Alstrong · Rust Converter · 340-Hr Salt Spray (ASTM B 117)

Converts Rust in 30 Minutes. Passes 340 Hours of Salt Spray.

A self-priming rust converter that chemically transforms adhering rust into an organo-complex compound within 30 minutes — forming a moisture-repelling, abrasion-resistant coating with ASTM B 117-tested salt spray resistance of 340 hours at 25 microns.

    Why It Works

Why Rust Removal Alone Doesn't Solve the Problem

Wire brushing and grinding remove loose rust but leave residual rust chemically active — continuing to corrode from beneath any applied coating unless the root compound is neutralised. In marine and industrial environments, this leads to rapid coating failure.

    The ALSTRONG RC Advantage

A rust converter that chemically reacts with iron oxide — stabilising and transforming it into an organo-complex compound, neutralising the corrosion at its source and forming a new moisture-repelling coating with 340-hour salt spray resistance.

    Visible Conversion in 20 Minutes

The rust conversion reaction is visible within 20 minutes of application — a practical, observable confirmation on site that the chemical process is working. Full conversion at approximately 30 minutes.

    Immediate Concrete & Mortar Overcoat

Concrete, mortar and plaster can be applied immediately over ALSTRONG RC without waiting for the 24-hour full cure — reducing site downtime in structural repair sequences where the reinforcement must be encased quickly.

Converts Rust Chemically. Verified by ASTM B 117.

Overcoatable immediately with concrete, mortar or plaster.

    Converts Rust in 30 Minutes

Chemically stabilises and converts adhering rust into an organo-complex compound at the surface of the steel — neutralising active corrosion rather than just coating over it.

    340-Hr Salt Spray — ASTM B 117

At 25 microns dry film thickness: 340 hours of salt spray resistance (ASTM B 117) — verified structural corrosion performance for marine, coastal and industrial environments.

    Immediate Concrete Overcoat

No cure wait needed before applying concrete, mortar or plaster — enabling rapid site workflows for reinforcement protection followed by structural repair.

Self-Priming — Tolerant of Residual Rust

Self-priming with good adhesion to steel even with residual rust — applied after wire brushing and water washing without requiring blast-cleaned white metal.
