Where to use ROOFCOAT PU 2K: PU cement waterproofing for wet areas and tanks

ROOFCOAT PU 2K is a PU cement waterproofing membrane in two parts: Part A is liquid polyurethane and Part B is cement. Mixed 1:2 by weight, it becomes a cold-applied, self-curing elastomeric coating. This hybrid waterproofing membrane is applied in two coats by brush, roller or notched trowel on a pre-wetted surface.

    • Under-tile Wet Areas

Recommended under tiles, with a 3–5 day air cure before tiling.

    • Bathrooms & Kitchens

Two crosswise coats applied on a pre-wetted surface.

    • Balconies & Podium Slabs

Elastomeric membrane with elongation at break above 150%.

    • Water Tanks & Reservoirs

NIL water penetration at 5 bar for water-retaining structures.

    • Swimming Pools

Air cure a minimum of 3–5 days before water contact.

    • STPs & Sewage Structures

Protects concrete with a polyurethane and cement hybrid membrane.

    • Basement Retaining Walls

Brush, roller or notched trowel application, with optional fibre mesh.

    • Marine & Coastal Concrete

NIL chloride permeability protects reinforcement from chloride-induced corrosion.

For bathroom leakage repair or a new wet area, 1 kg covers 6–8 sq.ft in 2 coats at 1.55 mm DFT. Tensile strength is 5.0–5.5 N/mm² and Shore A hardness is 85 or more. It complies with EN 1062-3 and EN 1504-2, and as a chloride resistant waterproofing it shows NIL chloride permeability to ASTM C 1202. Up to 20% water by weight of Part A may be added. Use the mixed product within 30 minutes at 30°C, and recoat after 2–6 hours.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies ROOFCOAT PU 2K to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

    Why ROOFCOAT PU 2K works

    • Two bonding mechanisms

Chemical adhesion from the polyurethane resin combines with hydraulic bonding from Portland cement, giving excellent adhesion to concrete.

    • Elastomeric polyurethane

The polyurethane gives the cured membrane the elasticity of a PU coating, with elongation at break above 150%.

    • NIL chloride permeability

No chloride ions migrate through the cured membrane, which protects embedded reinforcement in marine, coastal and water-retaining structures.

    How to Use

    1

Prepare substrate — remove all dust, oil, laitance, loose particles; repair cracks and honeycombs

    2

Pre-wet the substrate to saturated surface dry (SSD) condition — no standing water

    3

Add Part A (liquid PU) into a clean container; slowly add Part B (cement) at 1:2 by weight while mixing with a low-speed drill (300–500 rpm)

    4

Add up to 20% water (by weight of Part A) to achieve workable consistency; mix 3–4 minutes until lump-free

    5

⚠️ Use mixed product within 30 minutes at 30°C

    6

Apply the first coat by brush, roller or notched trowel; optional fibre mesh / GEO fabric embedment in first coat

    7

Apply second coat crosswise after first hardens (2–6 hours)

    8

Air cure a minimum of 3–5 days before water contact, tiling or foot traffic

    9

Do not apply in direct sun, strong wind, or when rain is imminent; protect from freezing during cure
