    ROOFEX

    • Basement leakage from inside wall
    • Water tank waterproofing
    • Construction joint waterproofing
    • Honeycombing repairs

ROOFEX is a high-performance penetrative crystalline waterproofing system. When applied to concrete, its active ingredients penetrate deep into the substrate and react with cement compounds and moisture — forming multiplied crystals that seal capillaries, pores and hairline cracks from within, transforming porous concrete into an impermeable mass. Effective against both positive and negative hydrostatic pressure. Four application methods: slurry coat, dry shake on fresh concrete, dry pack for joints and fillet sealing at construction joints. For water retaining structures, basements, effluent treatment and sewage plants.

Where to use ROOFEX: crystalline waterproofing for tanks and basements

ROOFEX is a crystalline waterproofing powder that you mix with water. Brushed or sprayed on damp concrete as a slurry, its active ingredients move deep into the substrate and react with cement compounds and moisture. The crystals that form seal capillaries, pores and hairline cracks from within. It works against both positive and negative hydrostatic pressure.

    • Water Retaining Structures & Reservoirs

Wait a minimum of 15 days after application before filling.

    • Water Tanks

Slurry coat by brush or spray on dampened concrete.

    • Basements

Works against negative hydrostatic pressure as well as positive.

    • Sewage & Effluent Treatment Plants

Seals capillaries and pores in the concrete from within.

    • Construction Joints

Applied at 1.5 kg/m² as slurry or dry powder.

    • Honeycombing Repairs

Open up the honeycombing, then dry pack it.

    • Backfilled Concrete

Used on backfilled concrete that faces hydrostatic pressure.

    • Blinding Concrete

Crystals seal capillaries and pores in the blinding layer.

    • Fresh Concrete (Dry Shake Method)

Dry shake at 1.6 kg/m² before final trowelling.

For basement leakage from an inside wall, apply the slurry at 0.75 kg/m² per coat in two coats, or 1 kg/m² in one coat. Because it handles negative hydrostatic pressure, it suits negative side waterproofing. Packing is 1, 5 & 25 Kgs with a shelf life of 1 year. Allow 48 hours before foot traffic and 2–4 weeks for full activation. Cure by fog or mist spray 3–4 times a day for 2–3 days, and do not use membrane curing compounds.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies ROOFEX to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

    Why ROOFEX works

    • Crystals grow inside concrete

Active ingredients react with cement compounds and moisture to form crystals that seal capillaries, pores and hairline cracks from within.

    • Works from both sides

It is effective against positive and negative hydrostatic pressure, so it can be used on either face of the concrete.

    • Keeps sealing with moisture

Crystal growth continues as long as moisture is present, which gives the concrete ongoing self-sealing protection.

Penetrative Crystalline · Positive & Negative Pressure

Waterproofing That Grows Inside the Concrete.

Penetrates deep into concrete, reacts with cement and moisture, and forms crystals that seal capillaries, pores and hairline cracks from within — permanently, from both positive and negative pressure sides.

    Get a Quote

Surface Coatings Fail Under Negative Pressure

Sheet and liquid-applied membranes delaminate when water pushes from the far side. In basements and water retaining structures, this makes negative-side waterproofing with a surface coating fundamentally unreliable.

    The ROOFEX Advantage

ROOFEX works inside the concrete matrix — immune to delamination. Crystals grow inside pores and cracks, sealing the concrete itself so pressure direction becomes irrelevant.

    Positive & Negative Pressure

Effective from either face — no need to access the water side for reliable sealing.

    4 Application Methods

Slurry coat · Dry shake on fresh concrete · Dry pack into joints/honeycombing · Construction joint fillet.

    The Crystalline Difference

    Crystals Seal From Within

Penetrates and reacts with cement to form crystals filling capillaries, pores and hairline cracks — permanent sealing that grows stronger with moisture.

    Positive & Negative Pressure

Effective from both faces — positive (water pushing from outside) and negative (water pushing from the treated interior face).

    4 Application Methods

Slurry coat, dry shake on fresh concrete, dry pack into joints/honeycombing, and fillet sealing at construction joints before pouring.

    Moisture-Activated, Self-Healing

Crystal growth continues as long as moisture is present — ongoing self-healing as new micro-cracks form in service.

    Crystalline Waterproofing

Sealing Concrete From the Inside Out.

Four documented application methods for retaining structures, basements, sewage and effluent plants.

    Crystalline Formation

Reacts with cement and moisture to grow crystals inside capillaries, pores and hairline cracks — sealing from within, not from a surface film.

    Positive & Negative Pressure

Works from either face — ideal for basement interiors and water retaining structures where the water side is inaccessible.

    Four Application Methods

    Slurry (0.75–1 kg/m²) · dry shake on fresh concrete (1.6 kg/m²) · dry pack for joints/honeycombing · construction joint fillet (1.5 kg/m²).

    Self-Healing With Moisture

Crystal growth continues whenever moisture is present — sealing new micro-cracks as the structure ages.

    How to Use

    1

Ensure the surface is sound, clean and free from laitance, oil and grease; dampen before application

    2

Open any cracks or honeycombing to allow penetration

    3

Mix ROOFEX powder with water to form a consistent slurry paste (for slurry method)

    4

Apply by brush or spray, OR use dry shake on fresh concrete before trowelling, OR dry pack into joints/honeycombing

    5

Where two coats required: apply second coat within 48 hours while first coat is still 'green'; lightly pre-wet between coats

    6

Curing — begin the following day: fog/mist spray 3–4 times per day for 2–3 days

    7

⚠️ Do NOT use membrane curing compounds — moisture must remain accessible for crystal growth

    8

Protect from rain for 24 hours; from frost for 5 days; from sun and wind evaporation throughout

    9

Minimum 48 hours before foot traffic

    10

Minimum 15 days before filling water retaining structures

    11

Full activation: 2–4 weeks — the crystalline process continues with moisture exposure

    Packing & Storage

Available in 1, 5 & 25 Kg packs. Shelf life of 1 year stored dry, out of direct sunlight.

    Critical Constraints

⚠️ Curing compounds NOT suitable — use moisture curing only. Do not fill water retaining structures for 15 days. Foot traffic minimum 48 hours. Not a decorative finish — discolouration may occur (does not affect waterproofing). High hydrostatic pressure: consult Armstrong.

    Crystal Growth — Ongoing Self-Healing

ROOFEX is not a surface membrane. Crystals grow inside the concrete matrix and continue self-healing as long as moisture is present. Full activation requires 2–4 weeks. See also ROOFEX 2K 711 (flexible two-component) and ROOFEX COP (osmotic + immersion).
