Where to use TILEX 353: C2TES1 tile adhesive for large tiles and stone

TILEX 353 is a C2TES1 tile adhesive, an elastic polymer modified cementitious powder in grey and white. You add it to water, let it slake, then spread and comb it with a notched trowel. It bonds large format tiles and natural stone on interior and exterior floors and walls, and suits jobs where a deformable tile adhesive is needed.

    • Large Format Tiles & Stones

Back-butter tiles larger than 12"×12" for full bedding.

    • Natural Stone & Marble (Humidity Affected)

Available in white as well as grey for stone and marble.

    • Deformable Substrates

Gives no vertical slip on deformable surfaces.

    • Heated Screeds

The elastic polymer adhesive bonds tiles on heated screeds.

    • Vitreous Mosaic

Combed on with a 6 mm × 6 mm notched trowel.

    • Kitchen Worktops & Work Surfaces

Fixes tile or stone on worktops and work surfaces.

    • Wood & Iron Surfaces

Listed for these difficult surfaces, which must be clean and sound.

    • Exterior Floors & Walls

Provide expansion joints through the tile work at construction joints.

    • Interior Floors & Walls

Set tiles into the wet adhesive and bed them with a rubber mallet.

TILEX 353 complies with ANSI A118.4, EN/ISO C2TES1 and IS 15477:2019. In that class C2 means improved, T extended open time, E extended workability and S1 high initial tensile adhesion, which is what an adhesive for heavy stone slabs needs. Mix a 20 kg bag with 5 litres of water for grey or 6 litres for white. As a large slab adhesive it covers about 55–60 sq.ft per 20 kg bag at a 3 mm bed. Let it slake for 5–10 minutes and remix before use.

Armstrong Chemicals supplies TILEX 353 to sites across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Kochi and Chennai.

    Why TILEX 353 works

    • Elastic polymer

The elastic polymer modified mix bonds tiles to deformable, heated and other difficult surfaces.

    • No vertical slip

Tiles stay where you place them on walls, which matters with large format tiles and natural stone.

    • Extended open time

The T and E in the class stand for extended open time and extended workability, giving you longer to position each tile.

    Why TILEX 353

No Vertical Slip on Deformable Surfaces

Specifically engineered for deformable substrates — no vertical slip ensures tiles stay exactly where placed even on flexible or heated screeds.

    ANSI A118.4 · EN C2TES1 · IS 15477:2019

Triple standard compliance: US (ANSI A118.4), European (EN/ISO C2TES1) and Indian (IS 15477:2019) — the broadest certification of any TILEX adhesive.

Large Format, Stone & Difficult Substrates

For large format tiles and stones, natural stone and marble affected by humidity, vitreous mosaic, heated screeds, wood and iron — surfaces where standard adhesives underperform.

    Single Component — Add Water

No separate liquid component — just add water (Grey: 5L / White: 6L per 20kg), slake, mix and apply. TILEX URP ADMIX can replace water to enhance bond strength further.

For enhanced bond strength and flexibility, gauge TILEX 353 with TILEX URP ADMIX partially or completely replacing water.
