Bituminous Coating Below Ground
Soil-side protection for retaining walls, foundations and DPC
Applications
Retaining walls before backfillFootings and foundation wallsOver a cured damp-proof course
Procedure
- Clean the concrete or masonry face and repair honeycombs and tie holes.
- Apply one coat of ROOFCOAT FLEXI 100 or ROOFBOND RFX PLUS 210.
- Apply two coats of RAINSEAL BMW 250. It can be thinned with 20% water.
- Where mortar is to follow, sprinkle fine dry sand on the final coat while it is wet to give the mortar a key.
- Protect the coating before backfilling so stones and soil do not damage it.
Important Suggestions
Fix the drainage behind a retaining wall as well. A coating alone cannot hold back water pressure that drainage should relieve.
Why This Treatment?
The bitumen blend resists dilute acids, dilute alkalis and salt solutions in the soil, which makes it a durable second barrier on the face the soil touches.
