Epoxy Putty Crack & Joint Filling
V-groove and U-groove filling in tanks, tile joints and grout holes
Applications
Procedure
- Clean the surface of dirt, dust and other contaminants.
- Water tanks: cut a V-groove along each crack. Mix CONPROOF EP with cement into a putty and fill the groove flush. Then apply two coats of CONPROOF EP over the tank face, 3 to 4 hours apart.
- Tile joints: remove the old white cement and any contamination along the joints with a mechanical cutter, open them into U-grooves and blow them clean. Mix both parts of TILEX EPOXY STAIN FREE 100, pack the joints full and wipe off excess at once.
- Grout holes: after pressure grouting, cut off the nozzles and seal each hole flush with epoxy putty.
- Before an epoxy floor or screed, fill cracks and joints with epoxy putty so the coating does not telegraph them.
Important Suggestions
Tanks must be emptied and dry on the surface before filling. CONPROOF EP is food-neutral, so it is safe inside drinking-water tanks. Moving joints are sealed with a sealant, not a rigid putty.
Why This Treatment?
Epoxy putty bonds hard into a cut groove and does not shrink, so the crack or joint is sealed solid. In tanks the same food-neutral epoxy is then used as the lining over it; in tiled floors the epoxy joint stops water getting under the tiles and stays stain-free.
