Curing Compound Application
Membrane curing for slabs, repairs and floors
Applications
New slabs and pavementsRepair mortar and polymer concreteFloor hardener surfacesWhere water curing is difficult
Procedure
1
Spray the curing compound as soon as the surface water has gone, or immediately after finishing a repair or floor.
2
Hold the nozzle about 450 mm from the surface and apply an even film.
3
Cover the whole surface, including edges.
4
Keep traffic off until the concrete has gained strength.
Important Suggestions
Do not use a membrane curing compound on a crystalline coating or where a coating must bond later without removing it.
Why This Treatment?
A curing compound forms a film that keeps the mixing water in the concrete while the cement hydrates, reducing shrinkage cracks and water use. IS 456 asks for at least 7 days of moist curing with ordinary Portland cement.
